Orange Peel

Orange PeelThe Orange Peel Social Aid and Pleasure Club is a live music club in downtown Asheville, NC.  The Orange Peel was started by Public Interest Projects, Inc., an investment/development company in Asheville, NC, and opened in October of 2002.  We recognized the need for a large live music club in downtown Asheville and renovated the space with state-of-the-art sound and light equipment and an interior designed and created by local artist Douglas Madaras. Since then, the Orange Peel has hosted hundreds of shows and welcomed artists such as Bob Dylan, Ziggy Marley, Joan Jett, Arcade Fire, Ben Harper, Michael Franti, Daughtry, Morrissey and the Avett Brothers.   In the summer of 2007, the Fillmore in San Francisco, California and The Orange Peel in Asheville, NC were chosen to host residencies for the Smashing Pumpkins, bringing national attention to the club and the community.  More than 8000 fans enjoyed the Pumpkins and Asheville’s hospitality over a two-week period that summer.  In 2007, The Orange Peel was named one of the top five rock clubs in the country by Rolling Stone Magazine.  The Orange Peel has also made the “Top 100 Worldwide Club Venue” list by Pollstar for the past five years.
